Do you ever wonder…

What history will say about us in fifty or a hundred years? What kids will be taught about our society, our individual communities and the global community we’re all part of? How much more damage will we inflict on our planet as large numbers of the earth’s citizens continue their love affair with consumerism for the sake of of their personal wants rather than their needs?

What will history say about Omicron, the most recent variant of COVID or, more importantly, what will they say about first world governments, some of whom now place economic recovery and the economy above providing responsible advice to their citizens with regard to staying healthy and safe. Here in Australia, the federal government leaned heavily on our various states to open borders, allow international travellers, modify quarantine etc., because our bottom line was more important than human life. Our deputy prime minister proudly announced…

Why mitigation will never stabilize the climate

Mark Brimblecombe

I have previously shown that it is too late to mitigate, by at least fifty years (see my earlier blog post of 18 January 2021). Central to that argument are the facts of self-reinforcing feedback loops, tipping points, and the realization that temperature increases from higher concentrations of Greenhouse Gases (GHGs) in the atmosphere have now led to greater amounts of GHGs being emitted from the planet itself rather than just from human activity.

But now it must be shown that the mitigation of human GHGs emissions can NEVER stabilize, let alone reduce, the greenhouse gas effect. I return to the ‘blanket’ analogy, since this is a helpful way of explaining how greenhouse gases trap heat from escaping into space, thus warming the planet. It is like adding a blanket on a bed that you are sleeping in. As said before, there is a delayed response to the…

The Misogynysts Guide To Hate On @Twitter. #feminism #cybersecurity

People are people. No matter how and where they were born

WanderinPoet

Depersonalization is the core of hate.

There can be little doubt that depersonalizing others is key to rationalizing the abuse of individuals.

And yet an easy way to attack women on twitter is to simply deny their very personhood.

This has been happening to Lili, aka @laughrodite4u for over a year and Twitter never stops it.  Never considers it’s impact.

And so one can simply lie to harass women, and Twitter won’t stop it despite rules against targeted harassment of women and spam.

Archive of hateful tweet.

NSA Surveillance Data Now On FBI Slippery Slope

ROSE COVERED GLASSES

Truthandcommonsense.com“WIRED”

The slope of government surveillance got a little slippery this week.

The FBI is allowed to directly access the NSA’s massive collection—which can include international email, texts and phone calls—for criminal investigations

The Guardian revealed that the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court had quietly approved changes to rules governing the use of bulk data collected from US tech companies through its so-called PRISM program.

The move essentially eliminates any barrier that previously existed between foreign counterterrorism investigations and domestic criminal investigations. The American Civil Liberties Union summed it up this way:

FBI agents don’t need to have any “national security” related reason to plug your name, email address, phone number, or other “selector” into the NSA’s gargantuan data trove. They can simply poke around in your private information in the course of totally routine investigations. And if they find something that suggests, say, involvement in illegal drug activity, they…

Resolving The Inner Identity Crisis

Great insights Elza

Confluence Media

At the present moment in human history, almost every individual has lost the awareness of its real or true self. This has happened very gradually as each individual has progressed in its journey of birth-rebirth and has kept on attaching itself to various different things and as a result losing its sense of self in things that it is not i.e. identifying with things that it is not. In a way it can be said that this took the self far away from itself. This personal, internal identity crisis has led to a universal, external identity crisis, which has resulted in an emotional crisis resulting in peacelessness and sorrow in our inner world as well as in the outer world.

This inner identity crisis is the root cause of the multitude of deformed emotions that exist inside us like anger, ego, lust, fear, comparison with others, greed, hatred, low self…
